Appliance cost calculators
Each calculator prices an appliance with the official EIA residential rate for your state (currently 18.3¢/kWh U.S. average, July 2026 data) — with common-model presets and the honest caveats.
Every appliance, priced by kWh
Each calculator multiplies an appliance's real power draw by how long you use it, then applies the residential electricity rate for your state. Change the watts, the hours or the state and every figure updates together — per hour, per day, per month and per year.
Three ways to measure a load
Anything you can read off a nameplate is priced by watts × hours. Dishwashers, washers and dryers are priced by kWh per cycle. Labeled annual appliances — refrigerators, freezers — use their kWh per year. Each page shows the formula for its own appliance.
Estimates, and how honest they are
These are planning figures, not billing figures. Thermostats cycle, standby draw adds up, and your real tariff sits inside the state average. Every page links its sources and the full methodology shows the constants and rounding.
